coaching

Writing a book can be a solitary process, but you do not have to navigate every creative decision, setback, and next step alone. Whether you need help solving a story problem, strengthening your writing practice, or managing an entire book project, my coaching gives you practical, personal support shaped around your goals.

Which Kind of Coaching Do I Need?

Choose Story Coaching if you have a particular creative problem you want to solve.

Choose Writing Coaching if you want ongoing support with your craft, writing practice, accountability, and progress.

Choose Book Project Coaching if you want strategic and practical support across the entire project, from planning and writing through publication and launch.

Still uncertain? Send me a brief description of your project, where you are in the process, and what you are finding most difficult. I will let you know which service is likely to be the best fit. I will never recommend a larger package when a single session will give you what you need.

  • Book Project Coaching

Book project coaching supports the entire journey from idea to publication. From outlining and editing to formatting, cover decisions, publishing, marketing, and launch planning, I will help you organize the moving parts, make informed decisions, and keep the project moving forward.

STORY COACHING

Story coaching helps you solve the creative problems within your manuscript.

Perhaps the plot has stalled, a character is not behaving convincingly, the middle of the book has lost momentum, or you have an idea you love but cannot yet see how to turn it into a complete story.

During our session, we will look closely at the problem and work through possible solutions together. I will help you identify what is causing the difficulty, ask the questions that open the story up, and give you practical options for moving forward.

We can explore areas such as:

  • Plot and story structure

  • Character development and motivation

  • Conflict and stakes

  • Pacing and tension

  • Point of view

  • Worldbuilding

  • Theme and emotional impact

  • Beginnings, endings, and troublesome middles

  • Planning a new story

  • Finding your way forward when you feel stuck

Story coaching is collaborative. I will not dictate what should happen in your book or take control of the story. My role is to help you see its possibilities more clearly and find the solution that feels right for the book you want to write.

WRITING COACHING

Writing coaching provides ongoing support as you develop your craft, build a sustainable writing practice, and make steady progress.

This service is not limited to solving one particular story problem. We can work on the wider challenges that arise as you write, including confidence, consistency, revision, technique, decision-making, and maintaining momentum through a long project.

Each month, we will agree on realistic goals based on your circumstances and priorities. Our calls give you a regular place to examine your work, talk through difficulties, and decide what needs your attention next.

Writing coaching can help you:

  • Create a writing routine that fits your life

  • Set achievable goals and deadlines

  • Develop stronger writing and revision skills

  • Work through creative blocks

  • Recognize patterns in your writing

  • Make confident decisions about your manuscript

  • Stay accountable without feeling pressured or judged

  • Finish work rather than endlessly beginning again

  • Develop your individual voice

  • Build a more sustainable relationship with writing

This is a flexible service. Some writers use coaching to complete a particular manuscript, while others want longer-term support as they develop their craft and body of work.

What You Receive Each Month

  • Two 60-minute private video calls

  • Goal setting and progress planning

  • Review of up to 5,000 words per month

  • Feedback on specific craft questions

  • A written summary and agreed next steps after each call

  • Email support for brief questions between sessions

The manuscript review included in this service offers focused coaching feedback rather than a full developmental edit or copyedit.

Price

$450 per month.

A three-month commitment is recommended so that we have time to establish goals, assess progress, and create meaningful momentum. You may continue on a month-to-month basis after the initial three months.

Unused calls do not normally roll over into the following month.

BOOK PROJECT COACHING

Book project coaching is for writers who want experienced support through the entire process of creating, completing, publishing, and launching a book.

There is far more to producing a book than writing the manuscript. The project may involve planning, research, editing, design, formatting, publishing decisions, schedules, contractors, marketing, and dozens of smaller tasks that are easy to underestimate.

I will help you turn the project into a clear, manageable plan and guide you through each stage. Instead of trying to determine everything at once, you will know what needs to happen, when it needs to happen, and what decisions you need to make next.

This service can begin with an early idea, a manuscript already in progress, or a completed draft that needs to be prepared for publication.

What We Can Work On

Outlining, Planning, and Goal Setting

We will clarify the purpose of the book, its intended reader, its structure, and what you want it to achieve. We will then create a realistic project plan with milestones, priorities, and deadlines.

Writing and Editorial Support

I will provide ongoing editorial guidance as the manuscript develops, helping you address problems before they become embedded in the book.

This may include feedback on outlines, chapters, revisions, structure, voice, and other editorial decisions.

Editing, Formatting, and Cover Support

I will help you determine which editorial services the manuscript needs and when they should take place. I can also advise you on formatting, cover design, back-cover copy, and working effectively with editors, designers, and other publishing professionals.

Light editorial review is included within the monthly allowance. Full developmental editing, copyediting, proofreading, cover design, and book formatting are separate production services and will be quoted in advance if required.

Publishing Support

We can work through the practical decisions involved in publishing, including:

  • Traditional publishing, independent publishing, or a hybrid approach

  • Publishing platforms and distribution

  • ISBNs and book metadata

  • Categories and keywords

  • Pricing

  • Print and ebook editions

  • Uploading and publication schedules

  • Advance copies and launch preparation

Marketing Strategy and Rollout

Together, we will develop a marketing approach that suits the book, the intended audience, and the resources available to you.

This may include positioning, author platform, launch timelines, advance readers, reviews, newsletters, podcast outreach, social content, promotional opportunities, and maintaining momentum after publication.

Project Management

I will help keep the complete project organized and moving forward. We will track decisions, deadlines, dependencies, and next steps so that important tasks do not disappear amid the creative work.

What You Receive Each Month

  • Two 60-minute private video calls

  • Outlining, planning, and goal setting

  • A customized project plan and schedule

  • Review of up to 10,000 words or an equivalent amount of project material each month, subject to the agreed monthly priorities

  • Editorial and revision guidance

  • Formatting and cover support

  • Publishing guidance

  • Marketing strategy and rollout planning

  • Project management and progress tracking

  • Written action points following each call

  • Priority email support between sessions

Price

$995 per month.

Book project coaching requires an initial three-month commitment. Most complete book projects require between six and twelve months, depending on the starting point, manuscript length, publishing route, and pace of work.

Any outside expenses, including professional design, ISBN costs, formatting, printing, advertising, platform fees, or specialist services, are paid directly by the author and are not included in the coaching fee.

Additional editing or project work beyond the monthly allowance will always be discussed and quoted before it is undertaken.
